Welcome to Taekwon-Do South Africa, the official national governing body of the authentic I.T.F. (International Taekwon-Do Federation) led by Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa IX Dan. Grand Master Choi is the son of the original founder of all Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi. He was legally voted by the original I.T.F organisation to be the successor in 2001.
It is important to note that this international organisation is the only Taekwon-Do organisation acknowledged and endorsed by all the founder's family (Choi family).
Our instructors are correctly qualified to train martial arts in South Africa including Nqf3 Coaching, first aid, MASA, ITF & TSA certification.
TSA is also affiliated to SASCOC (South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee) through our affiliation to MASA (Martial Arts South Africa), the official governing body for Martial Arts in South Africa, The SATC (SA Taekwon-Do Council) & SAAKMA (SA Korean Martial Arts Assc). Taekwon-Do South Africa (TSA) was founded in January 2004 when after the passing of the founder General Choi Hong Hi, it was decided to create an organisation to affiliate to the branch of I.T.F headed by the founders son and who in our opinion was the right route to follow. Much of this reasoning was due to wanting to be as close to the source of original Taekwon-Do as possible.
The general and his pioneers spread Taekwon-Do across the world since 1955 and its popularity grew like nothing before or since. Other organisations have branched off and borrowed the name but not the pure techniques of I.T.F. Being so close to the source of original Taekwon-Do, the training is truly all round as opposed to many organisations that are overly focused only on the sport aspect.
From its early brutal roots in the military to its full form today including effective self defence, traditional, sport and mental focus. It is a full spectrum hand to hand martial art.
Taekwon-Do South Africa headed by Master Norman Magua VII Dan (president) , his instructor & mentor is Grand Master Trevor Nicholls IX Dan who is the Vice President of I.T.F. and president of UKITF Taekwon-Do Association.
